You’ve got tattoos and you want a spray tan. Can you do both? The short answer is yes — but there are a few things to know.
What Happens to Your Tattoos
The spray tan solution will cover your tattoos temporarily. Fresh tattoos are especially noticeable under a tan because the solution clings to the raised texture of newer ink. Older, fully healed tattoos are less affected, but you may still see them appear slightly lighter or muted under the colour.
Is It Permanent?
No. The colour on your tattoos will fade at the same rate as the rest of your tan. As your spray tan sheds, your tattoos will return to their normal appearance. Nothing is stained or damaged.
Tips for Tattooed Skin
If you have a brand new tattoo (less than 2 weeks old), skip the spray tan until it’s fully healed. Fresh tattoos are essentially open wounds and need time to recover before any product is applied to them.
For older tattoos, a light exfoliation over the tattooed area before your session can help the tan absorb more evenly and minimize the colour difference.
The Clear Solution Option
If you’re worried about your tattoos looking strange under the bronzer, the Clear solution is a great choice. It develops more subtly and is less likely to create a noticeable contrast on tattooed areas.
Your tattoos and your glow can absolutely coexist. Book your session and enjoy both.
