For a holiday party, book your spray tan one to two days before. That gives the colour time to fully develop and lets you rinse off before you get dressed, so nothing transfers onto your outfit. If you have several parties in the same week, one well-timed tan can cover them all. Here’s how to plan the season, from the office party to New Year’s Eve.
When Should I Get a Spray Tan Before a Holiday Party?
One to two days before. Your colour keeps developing for up to 24 hours, and you’ll rinse off after 6 to 8 hours (or 1 to 3 hours with Rapid Clear), so a tan booked a day or two ahead is fully developed, rinsed and settled by the time you walk in. For a Friday office party, tan on Wednesday or Thursday. We’re open until 10pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so you can book after work. Avoid tanning on the day of the party: there’s no time to rinse, and the cosmetic bronzer can transfer. Our guide to a spray tan for a big event covers the timing in more detail.
Can One Spray Tan Last Through Several Holiday Parties?
Yes, if they fall within about a week. A spray tan lasts up to 7 days, or 10+ with good aftercare, and it usually looks its best from day two to day four. Book one to two days before your first event, moisturize daily, and you’ll glow through the rest of the week. If your December is packed from start to finish, plan on a fresh tan every 7 to 10 days. Here’s how often to get a spray tan to keep your colour even.
When Should I Spray Tan for Christmas?
On December 22 or 23. A tan booked two to three days before Christmas Eve is fully developed for family photos and dinners, and still looks fresh through Boxing Day. Exfoliate 24 hours before your session so the colour goes on evenly.
When Should I Spray Tan for New Year’s Eve?
On December 29 or 30. If you tanned for Christmas, gently exfoliate what’s left of that tan 24 hours before your New Year’s session, so the new colour goes on smoothly instead of building up unevenly over the old one. Celebrating somewhere warm? Read our tips for a spray tan before vacation.
Will My Spray Tan Rub Off on My Party Dress?
Not if you time it right. What transfers is the cosmetic bronzer, not the developed colour, so tan one to two days before and shower at least once before you get dressed. Wearing white, ivory or light satin? Choose our Clear solution, which has no cosmetic bronzer. For the first 6 to 8 hours after your session, stick to loose, dark clothing.
What Should I Wear to My Spray Tan in Winter?
Loose, dark clothing and roomy footwear. Skip leggings, skinny jeans and tight socks, which can leave lines while the tan develops. Loose Uggs, fur-lined Crocs, moccasins or loose-fitting boots all work well in the cold. Our prep and aftercare guide has the full checklist.
How Do I Keep My Tan From Fading Fast in Winter?
Keep your skin hydrated. Indoor heating and cold air dry skin out, and dry skin sheds faster, taking your colour with it. Moisturize every day with a gentle, oil-free moisturizer, shower in lukewarm water rather than hot, pat dry instead of rubbing, and go easy on hot tubs and saunas. Our day-by-day aftercare guide walks you through the first week, and why spray tans fade fast covers the most common culprits.
How Dark Should My Holiday Tan Be?
A shade or so lighter than your summer tan usually looks most natural, since most of us are paler in winter. Our booth offers four intensity levels, from light to double dark, so you can match the season, and a natural, even glow photographs best under flash. If you’re very fair in winter, see our guide to a spray tan for pale or fair skin.
Can We Book Spray Tans as a Group Before a Holiday Party?
Yes. Groups of four or more can book back-to-back 20-minute slots from $51 per person, and bigger groups can book the whole studio. It’s an easy way to get ready together before an office party or a night out. See our group spray tan packages.
Are You Open Over the Holidays?
Yes. TANNED TO is open seven days a week, including holidays, with late nights until 10pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. December evenings are popular, so book a week or two ahead.
Tanning more than once this season? A membership or pack brings the cost down to as little as $42.50 a tan. Book your holiday spray tan at TANNED TO, at Queen and Duncan in downtown Toronto.
