You just stepped out of the booth looking (or about to look) amazing. Now you’re wondering: when can I actually shower? Here’s the short answer — wait 6 to 8 hours before showering, regardless of which solution you chose.
Malibu (Bronze) Solution
If you went with Malibu, wait at least 6 to 8 hours before your first rinse. The cosmetic bronzer gives you instant colour, but the DHA needs time to fully react with your skin. Showering too early will wash away both the bronzer and the developing tan underneath.
Clear Solution
The Clear solution also needs 6 to 8 hours before your first shower. Since there’s no bronzer to show you the colour is developing, you won’t see immediate results — but the DHA is still working behind the scenes during that time.
Your First Shower
When you do shower, keep it simple. Use lukewarm water, not hot. Skip the body scrub or loofah. Pat dry with a towel, don’t rub.
You’ll likely see some colour come off in the water. That’s normal — it’s just the excess bronzer rinsing away. Your real tan is already set underneath.
After You Dry Off
This is when moisturizer becomes your best friend. Apply a fragrance-free, oil-free moisturizer head to toe. This locks in your colour and keeps your skin from drying out, which is the number one cause of a fading tan.
